Privacy Policy Statement

The St Andrew’s Gardiner Congregation of the Uniting Church in Australia Synod of Victoria (UCA) acknowledges and respects the privacy of all individuals. We support and endorse the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 and will comply with these principles whenever personal information as defined by the Act is collected by us.

The St Andrew’s Gardiner Congregation is part of the UCA and its purpose is to provide effective ministry through keeping accurate records to enable good communication, so that the congregation is well informed and the minister, elders, councillors and carers may carry out their duties.   The congregation conducts its activities and functions in accordance with the National Privacy Principles as follows:

Collection and use of personal information

Personal information is collected and used by the congregation for the purpose of

w     arranging meetings, mailing information to members and other persons involved in the work of the congregation; and office bearers of the relevant presbytery

w      communicating to the congregation, and where appropriate, with care agencies

w      facilitating pastoral work of the minister, elders and carers of the congregation.

Disclosure of personal information

Personal information will only be disclosed to the minister, elders, councillors and carers in pursuit of their work and responsibilities, and office bearers of the relevant presbytery.

We will not disclose your personal information to a third party without your consent.

Your access

Should you wish to access our records of your personal information we will arrange it within 14 days of your written request. An administration fee of $20.00 applies.

Accuracy, up to date

We will record your information accurately and update it in our records on receipt of your written advice.

Destruction of unnecessary personal information

We conduct a review of our personal information records annually, usually in January and remove any personal information that is no longer required.

Protection of personal information

We protect your personal information from

w        improper use;

w        unauthorised access;

w        alteration;

w        accidental destruction or loss

by restricting access to our files and database to the minister, and designated members of the congregation responsible for conducting the business of the Congregation
